what an excellent quotation.

this session we're teaching, in hopes of giving an idea of what the contemporary poet does:

1. charles olsen's projective verse
2. carolyn forche's idea of poetry of witness
3. adrienne rich's idea of the poet as a revisionist
4. phillip larkin's idea of the pleasure principle

and then we're going to throw down a big booyah in all the kids faces.
